When McQueen and his partner are chasing the bad guy in the hospital he tells his partner to go to the ground floor and you see him exit through a door and walk to the end of the sidewalk where there's a cop and it's dark outside. Then you see McQueen chasing him and coming out a door from the basement or wherever and voila, it's daylight!
This is not too hard to figure out, because the "hit" in the movie takes place at 1 in the morning. Figuring the ride to the hospital and all the BS that takes place after they get there (e.g. the political banter between Chalmers and his cronies ) the intruder who comes to try and finish the job could have easily come in around 5 after some of the hoopla died down. Now one can argue that it does not seem like that but then time sequences in movies are not always accurate anyway.
