After the date, when Kat goes back to The Shop Around The Corner, everyone is trying to work out why 'NY152' (Joe) hasn't phoned to say why he didn't turn up. The one reason that they don't think of is, as they never went personal, he doesn't know her phone no, only her e-mail address. In the next scene we see him writing an e-mail to Kat to say where he was.
But he did know the name of the restaurant they were supposed to meet at. It would of been easy to find the number. I can understand where she's coming from. Not knowing what she didn't know, I would have expected him to call too.
Yeah, I noticed this too. Excuses for not calling? HE DOESN'T KNOW YOUR NUMBER! *laughs* Although he COULD have called the restaurant, it's a film - I don't think he would have, because it would've made the film dull, thusly people wouldn't watch it would they?
I think most of the time slipups are editing errors. This isn't really an editing error. I do think it's a reference for him to call the cafe, not her. Mostly, it's just part of the charm of this movie that they are going into a scenerio about what could have happened, and they are talking about him as if they really know him. No error, just poetic license.
