This is actually the same room. I've watched it on DVD with commentary by the director, M. Jay Roach and Mike Myers, and they discuss this.

From the story line I believed that Basil, his mother and M.O.D. had come to Las Vegas to meet with Austin and Vanessa. I just thought that they were renting a room on their own, in the same hotel. I never once believed it was the M.O.D.'s headquarter.

I had always been under the impression that the scene had taken place in headquarters as well, but now that you mention it, it probably was just another hotel room. Hmmm. I'll have to watch more closely next time.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the scene either takes place in the same hotel room or another one like it in the building. I've watched the movie countless times, but not recently. Is there a shot of the hotel right before that scene takes place? I'll have to check that out...

Who said it was the headquarters?

No offense or anything, but I think the two rooms were the same, otherwise maybe the headquarters have the same wallpaper as the hotel room (you know we have a painting and I saw the same painting at a dining place in Vermont).

Two places can have the same wall paper. Its not as if it is a slip-up if sombody buys the same wallpaper as you, is it?
