When the plane is encountering turbulence while Brian is trying to land the plane in the past reality at the beginning of the movie, there is a shot of Brian from the front, and he is wearing the headphones. Then there is a shot of him from the back, and he isn't wearing any headphones. When they show him from the front again, he is wearing the headphones.
This one is legit. I was watching the VHS this weekend. It's on the first tape, approximately 51 minutes into the movie. They are making their descent into Bangor Int'l Airport. Brian (the pilot) says "Hang on, we're going in", they show an external of the plane, there's a closeup of Brian's hand on the throttle & then you see the back of his head missing the head gear.
