When Norton calls Brad Pitt on the pay phone, he puts a quarter into the phone and calls him. He doesn't get an answer and he hangs up the phone. He doesn't get his quarter back. On a pay phone, you get your money back if there is no answer.
Theoretically, if he put the quarter in, and talked to himself, then no call had actually taken place. Therefore, the phone credit is still there. 'Course, my argument is flawed by the fact that when Ed Norton hangs up, the quarter should be returned...
When you call someone and the answering machine picks up, and you either talk or hang up (doesn't matter,) you DON'T get your quarter. :sigh: That's where all my quarters get wasted when calling to get a ride home.
this contains a SPOILER!Jack doesn't get his quarter back then, BUT in the next scene after he meets Tyler and they leave the bar, you'll notice that Tyler takes change outa the phone(lets just say its a quarter) and puts it in his pocket::SPOILER:: and since they are the same person, jack really does get his quarter back.
This movie's so surreal, we don't know whether or not he actually put the quarter in. He might have just stood staring at the phone box for a few minutes then walked off.
Come on. I don't see why you people like to say, "It's irrelevant weather he got his quarter back or not because their the same person." That's not the point. Were not talking about a hidden meaning or anything. Honestly: he puts a quarter in, hung up, no quarter was refunded. Simple as that. it's a slip up.
you's are all wrong well not all but just before he rings tyler, he rings marla and wen he hangs up he gets his quarter back sooo obviously its about the connection between the two and like someone said before he might not have been even talkin on the phone he was so messed up
