At the scene where Miss Rhode Island twirls her batons, after she is finished she turns them off and brings them to her side. The rims and the material used to produce the flame have been blackened and burned, however after she goes offstage the batons look as though they had never been used.
I was a majorette in high-school, and everything about her baton routine bothers me. First, you have to LIGHT the batons, they don't just flame up all by themselves (unless fire-baton technology has drastically improved in the last decade). Plus, you're supposed to keep the batons moving so they don't flare up too high - otherwise, you risk burning yourself!
i totally agree! im a baton twirler too, and i cannot stand that routine! thats the first thing i noticed, that fire batons have to be lit first... (i use them in parades) and also would like to point out how difficult it would be to twirl in high heels, especially when she does an illusion! (that would be when she spins around with one foot in the air) it is supposedly a two baton routine, but i think that she only throws one baton at a time... not to mention does forward figure 8s on each hand, as opposed to one forward and one reverse, granted i know that they had a profesional double.
the only routine that bothers me more is the one in hairspray... it is a disgrace to baton twirling, because she only does wrist twirls and figure 8s.
i think that these movies should have some REAL twirlers that can do more impressive tricks... <3 angie
