The camel in the background as the bus drives up in the beginning never moves and appears to be fake! It may have been made of cardboard. How hard is it to find a camel in Israel?
This film was low-budget and if you have the most recent release of this film look on the back. It clearly states it is filmed on location in Israel.

The film cost $4,500,000. That's peanuts for a Hollywood musical. It was shot entirely on location in Israel. The camel in the background is doing what camels do all the time: standing immobile. A camel can "lock" its knee and hip joints and will stand in one spot without moving for hours unless it has a reason to move.
