It was a flashback. It's a movie about witches. Ever hear of special fx?

Actually, when the glass drops the water is still clear but because she was cutting when she picks up the glass she gets blood all over the outside, and I'm not sure but I think some of the blood drips into the water too, and if you look the blood is dripping all over the floor and sink which might explain why it looks red.

I think they're trying to make the point of how badly Sarah cut herself... the cup dropped and was all smeared with blood only to mix with the blood on the ground...

well if she had cut her wrists yet the blood from her wrists would have dripped into the water and turned it red

When she dropped the cup, it was blood. And she wasn't killing herself; she was TRYING to kill herself.

If she was trying to kill herself at the time is it not possible that some blood got into the glass?? It's amazing how quickly any type of dye or color added to water just completely changes its appearance

Well, before she has hold of the glass, she has slit her wrists, so that explains how the water seems red.

I think it is suppose to be Sarahs' blood which has dripped into the cup. It is over exaggerated.
