I only saw this movie once many years ago, but still remember this flub. At the end of the scene where Christina is at Joan's funeral, and stands before her coffin, it is very apparent that Joan is still breathing. (You can see her chest expand and contract)
I have seen this movie tons of times as it's my favorite movie of all time yet I've never noticed Faye breathing at the end. I'll have to look closer next time.
I first saw this movie as a 3 year old (1989) and it wasn't Joan Crawford herself that scared me, it was Faye herself. I had nightmares of wire hangers that night i believe. I don't know how bad Joan Crawford was, but Faye Dunaway scares me to this very day.
Yes, too bad they couldn't of killed Faye for a more realistic effect. Faye scared me more than Joan, espcially with the cleaning up of the bathroom scene. Have you noticed how every time she yelled, with each sentence she would start off soft, then gradually get louder? Got a tad bit annoying, but scary nonetheless.
The softness of the lines commencing to shouts is Joan Crawford's way of being dramatic. She is an A-C-T-R-E-S-S!!! Everything with her was dramatic. But I think most movie historians will agree that Christina wrote the book out of sheer hatred for the lack of respect received from the will. It was campy, to say the least, and ONLY based on Christina's hatred for her mother. But an EXCELLENT movie, none-the-less.
