In one of the early episodes paul meets Kramer from seinfeld,it turns out that paul was Kramer's neighbor before Jerry moved in.But in the viagra episode paul meets jerry and treats him like a celebrity, even though that in the mad about you universe, seinfeld is not a TV show.
Well, even on the show "Mad About You" and "Seinfeld", the character Jerry Sienfeld would be a celebrity, wouldn't he? After all, Jerry was supposed to be a fairly well-known stand-up comic on his own show. I didn't watch "Seinfeld" all that much, but I do seem to recall him talking about appearing on The Tonight Show and playing Vegas. Weren't there even some episodes where the character got/nearly got his own TV show? I suppose as long as they didn't specifically call him "the star of the television show Seinfeld", it would be reasonable that they treat him as a celebrity. Especially if the Seinfeld character supposedly played a lot of New York gigs. There are comics that qualify as celebrities. For instance, Denis Leary was fairly well-known before he started acting as well.
In the show he wasn't that known,in fact I can't remember a single time when
somebody knew who he was before he met him.And not only that,Paul acted
like Jerry is a huge celebrity, not somebody who were once on the tonight show.
Even Jerry himself acted like people stop him in the street for an autograph
all the time, even though that it never happened on the show.
The Buchmans live in a very strange reality. In one episode they completely forgot each other and returned to separate homes, only to reunite at the newspaper stand. In another episode, Paul attended his own funeral, yet at the end he was very alive and sang Laying Down This Shower Mat "so I don't slip and fall and die..." :-D
Keith Hernandez tells Jerry he's a big fan in an episode of "Seinfeld." If Hernandez can recognize Jerry without having met him, then so can Paul Buchman.
