All in the Family - Where's the Porch?
Throughout its run, this show had several scenes on the Bunkers' fairly large front porch. In fact, you could see part of it every time the front door was opened. However, in the opening credits, the front of the house was shown, and there was no porch, just a small set of steps.
I don't care though; this is probably my all-time favorite TV show.

Yeah I noticed it too. It's pretty odd.

Maybe Archie had it put on later?

In the original pilot, Archie Bunker wears a plaid shirt instead of the standard white later on. It could be that there was a different house set when the show began but Norman Lear changed his mind.

Actually nothing on the outside of the house shown in the opening credits matches the Bunkers' house (windows on both sides of the front door etc.)

Maybe it's a different HOUSE!

If you also notice, there is a window as you go up the stairs, yet you never can seem to see outside of it. The show is great anyway.

From what I have read, the house shown in the opening credits is Norman Lear's boyhood home.
