Shortly before Marian sings "Good Night My Someone" she picks up a newspaper. As Emerilis becomes upset over Winthrope not liking her she puts down her newspaper on the stool in front of the piano. When Emerilis goes to sit on the stool to play her crosshand peice the newspaper has vanished.
