Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - I'm Building a Droid
Right after Anakin invites the gang into his house Qui-Gon introduces himself to Shmi (Annie's mom) and sez "Im Qui-Gon Ginn" then he turns his head down to Jake Loydd and sez "Im building a droid" just as Anakin/Jake sez that same line. He was helping him out. So through the scene Liam Neeson is saying "Im Qui-Gon Ginn, Im building a droid. Your son was kind enough to offer us shelter."
Ok... I just checked it out. Listen and look at the scene closely. As Quigon says "Hi, I'm Qui-Gon Jinn and this is Padme and Jar Jar" to Anakins mother, Anakin is SIMULTANEOUSLY saying the "I'm building a droid..." line to Padme and Jar Jar. It gets confusing because their speach is overlapping - but it's easy enough to distinguish between the voices of Qui-Gon and Anakin (especially if you watch the seen twice - once looking at Anakin speaking and once watching Qui-Gon Jinn. Sorry but this is no slip-up - just two conversations running together.
I've got to go check this out. There's no way that someone could mess up on their lines like that and have the person he's talking to keep a straight face.
He started to say "I'm" he got half a word out then a cut there is a mistake in the film but I think they just cut it out becouse "Anakin ~ I'm building a droid" is more important then what ever it was he was going to say. but there was a slip-up at 00:36:52½...
I just remembered this one as I was watching the movie yesterday. And it really does seem like Liam Neeson is calling Jake Lloyd's line there, although it sounds a bit garbled. It sounds sort of like "I'm built 'kut droid" or something like that. Also, he starts to say it just a split-second after Jake starts talking. If he wasn't calling his line for him, I can't tell what else he might've been saying. He doesn't seem to be talking to anyone in particular.
I heard him say something, but after listening to it a few times, I'm not sure he's saying Jake Lloyd's line, it sounds a little different and Jake starts before Qui Gon does. Who really know what he said? Good ear though, I didn't notice it until I read this!!!!
It makes the scene more real. It would be more likely for a kid to not wait for someone to finish to say something. And personally I think it's very easy to distinguish the two voices.
