At the end, when Sarah Michelle Gellar is looking through Ryan Phillippe's notebook, he spells friendship 'freindship' This guy is in his 20's. He should know the i before e rule!
Good point but the 'i before e etc.' is a common mistake. My husband is a computer whiz and STILL makes this same error at age 40. Also, he received an email directly from the president of his company and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the amount of error's this 'very educated' man had made including the i,e, one.

Yes, this is quite a common problem. But what about the word "fried"? Maybe Sebastian thought that no one would even be looking at his journal so really, spelling errors didn't matter. He probably did it on purpose to spite anyone who did read it at his perfect school.

We have to give Sebastian some slack. He was always in a hurry to write in his journal since Katherine was always snooping wanting to know what he was writing. Also, they were still in High School, not in his 20's in this movie.

After listening to the directors commentry on the DVD I can inform you that he did in fact write the journal himself so as to make it more realistic.
