The car was a 1950 Ford. The movie described it as a 1951. However the 1905's had a single nose cone in the grill center. The 1951 Fords had two nose cones in the grill.

The car used at the beginning which was supposed to be a 1950 Ford was actually a 1951 Ford with a 1950 hood and grille. The giveaway is the dash which is obviously a 1951 Ford dash, the V8 emblems on the front fenders, and the steering wheel.
