Scream 3 - Fax Machine
In the scene when a bunch of soon-to-be dead people are in a house when the power goes out, they get a few faxes. Now I may be wrong, but don't fax machines require power?

Well, I'm not positive, but if you've ever noticed, when the power goes out the phones usually still work, and since a fax machine is hooked up to a telephone line....maybe that's why?

I can answer this one--my company sells fax machines. They absolutely do NOT work without some electrical source. I'm glad someone else noticed this besides me!!

It is true, fax machines must have power to work but what makes you think that Roman(the killer) didn't just cut the lights?

I agree with Catherine. I don't think they would make such a huge mistake (even for a horror movie that would be pretty bad.)

man yall really blew it with this one, lol, and i'm really supprised too, as much attention as most people here have paid to really really small details in movies and no one noticed the APC battery back up sitting beside the fax machine to make it run with the power off?? i seen this the very first time i saw the movie and before the power went off i was thinking it was strange to see a battery back up usually used with a computer connected to a fax machine, but granted here, the other slipups found have been great, keep up the good work guys.

Well, there WAS a back-up battery supply next to the machine. Or did you not care enough to notice? This slip-up is BOGUS!

The power back up for the fax machine has been explained...but notice when they run outside that the pool light is on. You don't directly see it, but you can tell the pool is lit up. In regards to the comment about cutting the lights, you would have to choose exactly the right circuit breakers (probably not well marked) and flip only those. You would also probably have to turn off four or five, but from what we see all the lights go out at once, which would be kinda hard for one person to do.

All right, when I saw it in the movie I go 'OOPS, yeah, sure a magical fax machine.' but then I thought 'maybe he just killed the lights...' and now, coming here, I see that it was a battery backup. I resent anyone calling me un-observant, however, because I do notice little details. Just not that one. :p

Dees Nuts - incase you hadn't noticed, everyone (usually) has 5 fingers on one hand, unless its one of the Simpsons... anyway, I'm sure its possible to place one finger on each switch and press ;-)
