Shawshank Redemption, The - More Cigarrettes from the Future
This is for all of the old timers. If you look at the scene where Red picks up his bedding stuff containing the rock hammer for Andy, notice the packs of cigarrettes Red gives the other guy. If I am correct, he gives him Lucky Strikes. They didn't make Lucky Strikes in the packages with the red circle back then. They actually had green circle on them. The packs Red gives the guy have red circles on them.

Actually, they started making the Lucky Strike packs with red circles during World War 2. Before that, the circle was green. The story they used was that they stopped using green to aid in the war effort, 'cuz green was needed for camoflauge. But it seems that it was a coincidental marketing scheme, just to change the brand image.

I thought that the reason why the packet was red made red during WW2 was because of the bombing of the war between US and Japan, in regards to Pearl harbor and Hiroshima....hence the name "Lucky Strike"
