Deep Blue Sea - Cut....Cut....I Said Cut!
Towards the end of the movie....the lady scientist cuts her hand and jumps in the water to get the shark to come after her. She reaches up and tries to pull herself out of the water as it gets close, but the bar breaks and she falls back in the water. the scene cuts to the shark then right back to her. If you look closely when it cuts to her....She gives the 'cut throat sign 2-3 times to the camera man, which indicates that she's trying to end the scene because she needs air.

I totally agree. I just watched the movie and I can't believe that I didn't catch that before. It is so obvious. Even though I only saw her give the sign once.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I thought she was doing that because she figured everyone was dead meat.

I disagree. I think she is giving the shark a sign... like stop or don't attack or something like that. Cuz if you look EXTREMELY closely in one shot with the girl at a close distance and the shark far away you can tell the girl is actually computer animated. So I think she is giving the shark a sign cuz right after she does that the shark stops swimming towards her. But I could be wrong... that's just what I think.

I didn't realize that's why she did that. I thought she was trying to signal the shark to go away or something.

Yep, I saw the "Cut" sign. It's about three to five seconds before she gets eaten. She gave it twice, but like some of the others say, it could have been a "don't attack" sign.

Not to be rude or anything, but for those of you who thought she was giving the shark a "don't attack signal"....since when are sharks able to read human sign language? Even more so, an electronic shark?

She's less than 4 feet from the surface, with nothing holding her down. The shark isn't even in the picture, and it's all computer animated anyway. It's obviously a don't attack sign because the shark immediately stops.

I looked it up on youtube, you can clearly see her giving the "ixnay" to someone down and to her left. No idea what it is for, but it has nothing to do with the movie. http://youtube.com/watch?v=oNHtOo6vQl0&feature=related
