Right before Tom Hanks looks out of the spacecraft window and tells Houston that they are releasing a "gas" there is a straight shot of the window showing the gas release. There is a HAND in the WINDOW in outerspace! Could it be GOD telling Tom Hanks to look out there. The hand is at 54:10. Check it out! Still a good movie!
Right next to the window, there is a mirror positioned to help the astronauts see a little better. The "hand of God" you are seeing is a reflection of Jim Lovell's (Tom Hanks') hand in this mirror.
Yes, I agree. I've watched it several times because I thought it was a mistake at first but if you watch carefully, the hand in the window moves exactly as Tom Hanks' hand; it's a reflection.
