During the scene when Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson)is saying goodbyes to his family before he jointed the battle, a car can be seen passing in the distance.
Sorry, but I tried really hard, but I can“t see the car (DVD). But then again he says 'Goodbye' more than once. Where exactly (time / on screen) should it appear?

How do you know that is a car? It is so small. Maybe it is a chipmunk or a midget running around dressed up like a car? There is no way that is a car. What made you think it was a car in the first place? It looks nothing like a car. That is all.

That may have been what that was...or it could've been a person...it passed by twice...just so you know.

although you cant clearly see that its a car, its obvious that its not a horse, a chipmunk, or a running midget. its way too fast and too big to be any of those things, as the only logical explanation for this.

I found the cars. They are in the far background as Ben rides away. There are only two, and they pass by fairly quickly. Though they could be something else, they do look like cars because how they move smoothly and quickly.
