During the opening theft scene, the thief uses a remote operated winch to raise/lower their body over the opened window.

When the thief pushes the button to raise, a camera shot of the winch is taken showing the cable feeding out. The next shot is of the thief going up.

If the cable was feeding out, they would be going down.
