The Prince of Wales in 1924 was the future Edward VIII, and was known formally as either Albert of Edward. Among his friends, he was known as David. Thus, there is no slip-up here.
This is NOT a slip-up. Edward, Prince of Wales, later Edward VIII, had a great long name, like all princes do: EDWARD ALBERT CHRISTIAN GEORGE ANDREW PATRICK DAVID.
He was called 'David' by friends and family.
