At the end of the first big battle there is a close-up of Mel's face and the battle is going on behind him. Over his left shoulder (the right of screen) there is an English soldier about to kill someone, but looks as though he couldn't be bothered.
I absolutely, 100% agree! After such a magnificent battle scene, you really want to feel for the Scots and for William. All the courage, all the determination and the two worthless extras in the background that obviously think they're on a coffee break, but decide to go through their "big" 5 second fight scene, but this time in slow motion, just to get the hang of it!...meanwhile, the cameras are still rolling! I agree, it just takes so much energy away from what could have been the most emotional and triumphant scene!
