Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - Wrong Scene!
On the back of the DVD case, there's a picture with Charlie and his grandpa licking a sucker together, with an oompa-loompa looking at them. This scene was never in the movie, as the oompa-loompas never came across the chocolate river. Which in order to be where he was standing, he would have had to cross the river!
Well, it's not exactly a "movie slipup" but you would think that they would have know by now (when the dvd came out) that the scene was deleted! I mean if it were the original box for the movie when it first came out it could be a little mistake but the movie has been out without that scene for how many years now??
Is the scene in any of the "extra" stuff they always stick on DVDs?
I don't think the consumer has grounds just because something on the cover isn't in the film. Most covers are collages with stuff that never actually shares a scene shown together.
I agree with all of the other comment listed here, but I have one extra piece of information: you mentioned that for the Oompa Loompa to be looking at Charlie and Grandpa Joe, they would have had to cross the river, something you said never happens in the movie. What about when Willy Wonka plays his flute and the Oompa Loompas take Mrs Gloop to the fudge room?!? Hmmm... I believe they are on the other side of the river!!! Not as big of a fan as you thought you were are you?!?!?
I agree with RonjLow. What about the covers for, say, all the Indiana Jones movies, My Dog Skip, 102 & 101 Dalmations and Pocahontas? This is not a slip-up in my opinion!
I forgot to mention that they're also wearing coats in the picture. (It's on the back of the DVD case, bear in mind.) In the actual movie, they left their coats in hangers aways back.
It is a scene they didn't use. Did anybody notice that happens with previews ALL the time. Like a preview will show scenes that aren't even in the movie. About the oompa lumpa crossing the river. It could have just come out of a secret door or something
More times than not, the movie studios will make posters and trailers before the movie is fully edited. So a lot of times we will see seens in trailers or posters that does not appear in the movie.
