When Mel Gibson is trying to get the jumper off of the building, he handcuffs himself to the jumper and they jump off together. However, as they actually jump off the building, you can see they are not connected anymore!
Actually, they ARE still connected... I have watched that video a thousand times, and every time i watch it, they are handcuffed. I watched it today, in fact, to prove you wrong. :)

I agree totally. The DVD shows this very well. They have to grab hold of each others hands to make it look like they are connected. The handcuffs seem like a bit of elastic on each others wrists.

I agree with Rob. I just watched this part on my DVD with the slow motion on and the handcuffs actually break apart right when they start to leap from the ledge so then they grab each others hands to make it look like they are still on. Turn on your slow motion (if you have it) right before they jump and you will see the cuffs stretch and then separate.

When they jump, there are no handcuffs holding them together!

they do break! One of the Film Flubs books talk about this. The rubber trick handcuffs break.
