When Gale is driving around in the van and slams on the brakes, the body of the cameraman falls over the bonnet. But the car was in reverse! If you brake a car in reverse, anything on top will fall off the BACK of the car, not the front!
True...On the DVD version with the audio commentary from Wes and Kevin, they also discuss this part. Kevin and Wes both state that it was an accident. Wes tried jokingly to cover it up saying that he was stuck and at that moment he got loose and feel off, but then he said, "Ok, so i flunked high school physics." Just thought this was interesting. Also, just a side note: The van that Gale is driving was not original supposed to run into the tree. It was supposed to flip over, but things went wrong and Wes decided to keep it in.
I'm confused. If a car was going in reverse whatever is on top would fall to the FRONT. Get a toy car and put a barbie doll on it or something... when you reverse the toy car to the right the barbie will fall to the left. Try it.
I agree. If the car moves backwards the body would stay in the same place (like when you quickly pull a tablecloth from underneath plates) so it would be further forward in relation to the car.
It's true, it should have gone over the back. If something is going backwards or forwards at speed and is stopped suddenly, it carries on traveling, in the same direction. Trust me this is true, I always used to get this wrong in physics, and it's drummed into me now. I noticed this slip up the second it happened, it should have gone off the back.
Cars always jerk when you put on the brakes, right? So the sudden jerking of the car might have caused the body to slide forward since it was so close to the edge of the front.
Keep it simple. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. A body at rest stays at rest. Once she began moving backwards, his body would tend to go off the front. Once she stops moving backwards, it would go off the back.
