When the crew makes contact with the alien, they communicate with numbers until they create a code. As we all know, they end up screwing the code up and confusing Jerry with Harry. But, if J and H are messed up and E and A, that would have screwed up words like THE, spelling it TJA.
Tell me something...was there anything NOT screwed up about that movie?!?!? I couldn't imagine WANTING to see it again to catch what would qualify as slip-ups here. The whole movie was incoherent and inconsistent.
LOL. I'm afraid that I have to agree with both Miniwidge and Me, Myself, and I. Since Harry was the one who discovered the code - he probably fudged the letters to suit his own ends. BUT... who really cares? The book was interesting and well written - but this movie adaptation was lame. They screwed up everything from the script to the casting - It conveyed none of the feelings of dread that the book conjured.
Yeah, I noticed that too! My family and I watched the movie on NBC, and when I woke up the next morning, I'm like "Hey, if Jerry was changed to Harry, wouldn't that mean all other words with a j,e,h, or a would be changed too?" I talked to my family, and they agreed!
