If you watch the right hand of the stepmother as she is leaning over her dying husband, there are a few shots where her hand is down, then up, then down. It is obvious that it is not her just raising her arm, but just poor splicing.
Actually it is her other hand that is going up. Her left hand is the one on his chest and her right hand is the one that keeps going up to her face, watch the scene again a little closer.
