This is a good movie, fun to watch and doesn't take itself too seriously. But at the start the searchers simply drive up to a spot on the ice, dig a hole and hey presto they found The Charlotte. This is just ludicrous, GPS at the time was not so accurate and the original fix was taken from old charts etc which could not possibly be that precise, never mind issues with being so near the pole. Then there is the issue that the ship was trapped in the ice. Polar ice tends to move about making finding anything even more difficult. As a movie set up they could easily have 'created' a search scenario in the movie without showing all the details.
