This is the movie with Bill Paxton, Rob Lowe and Randy Travis.

In the very beginning when the railroad guy arrives at the James' house, he shoots the father "dead". He then blows up the house. The James' brothers check on the father and see he has no pulse, however when the camera pans back to the scene where they're gathered around the father and watching the house burn, watch the father on the ground. He not only picks up his head to watch the house burn but he completely turns it sideways to look at the son's and talk. Pretty limber for a guy with no pulse!!
