Near the end of the movie, Eli arrives at Alcatraz & announces "I have a King James Bible in my possession." A little while later, Eli sits down & begins dictating the bible. When reciting Genesis 1, Verse 2, he quotes "And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." This, however, is not the King James version of Verse 2 ("And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.")

Based on his use of "hovering over" instead of "moved over" as well as his use of "heavens" (plural) in verse 1, it appears Eli is quoting from the English Standard Version, not the King James.
