Notice the part in the movie when the McCallisters are with the Airport Police officer trying to figure out what happened to Kevin. The officer mentions that most people get separated at security checkpoints. Well if you have watched the movie, you know as soon as they got to the airport they checked their bags and went running straight for their gate. At no point did anyone ever go thru a security checkpoint.
