When Quint gives his speech about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis he ends it with:

"So eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out,

the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945."

The only problem is the USS Indianapolis was sunk on July 30th 1945.
