Titanic - Pen or Pencil?
During the dining room scene, Jack asks Molly to borrow a pen. He writes Rose a note with it and clearly hands a pen back to Molly when he's finished. However when we see the note he wrote, it's written in pencil.
MAYBE another one? Were fountain pens even invented back then? I saw Molly click the end of it before she puts it in her purse.

The makers of the movie were most likely troubled with bigger concerns than when a pen was made. Ya think? But good catch!

This is NOT a slip-up because that is NOT a pen at all--it is a fancy metal mechanical pencil or lead holder, and such things did exist back in 1912. By the way, fountain pens also existed at the time, but I don't recall seeing any in the movie; the pen that Rose uses later is instead a dip pen.
