During the training segments of both fighters, we see Ivan Drago using then-sophisticated machines and computers which his trainers mark his progress. One such machine is the padded force plate that measures pressure. If Ivan was training in the Soviet Union (with it's strict importation laws), then wouldn't the force plate measure his 1 ton punch in kilograms rather than the English imperial unit?
When the successive numbers flash on the screen, 1996, 2042, etc., those are pounds per square inch rather than kilograms per inch.
