In the episode when Charles goes to Chicago, he takes Mary with him so she can see her boyfriend John....when they arrive, they go to the newspaper where John works. His Editor comes out of the building and greets them.. John introduces him to Charles & Mary. Charles is there for an important grange meeting, so he and the editor talk about it, the editor invites them all to his home for dinner that evening. Yet that evening Mary goes to the dance, and Charles goes to the grange meeting...they never went to dinner. there is no explanation such as Charles sending a message or calling to say they can't make it..that part was completely forgotten in the script.
