This is the old version with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw. At 1:22 into the movie when Robert Shaw and Martin Balsam are rigging the brakes on the train, the next shot shows the kidnapper with the glasses in the doorway. Watch carefully and look up over his head...there is a camera guy laying on his stomach in a denim shirt on a ledge right above his head, pointing the camera straight at the hostages on the train.
