We know that Owen Wilson and Jenny move from Michigan to Florida. As Owen is driving back from the airport, he pulls onto a main road lined with palm trees and a view of the water on the left. If you look closely, you can see that his car's license plate says California, although they are supposed to be in Florida. Later in the movie, the license plate changes to Florida.
