When Gloria is playing Jeopardy she rings in before Alex is only about half done asking one of the questions. Alex stops, Gloria answers the question, and she gets her points. Any body who watches Jeopardy knows that the buzzers are locked out till Alex can completly finish the questions. It's always been that way!
