In the scene where Pete and Rudy are in the lunchroom at the Foundry on Rudy's birthday, look at the match Pete is using. He strikes it to light a cigarette and it burns half way down while he's talking. In the very next scene, he places that same match in a birthday cupcake, however you can tell it's a different match because this one was freshly lit. It has hardly burned down at all.
