This is on the episode (about the 3rd or 4th one in the series) where Rory got a D on an English paper at Chilton and had stayed up all night studying for a Shakespeare exam then overslept causing her to be late for school therefore missing the exam.

When Rory stops at the stop sign and calls lane, just before the deer hits her, you can see the stop sign facing the wrong way! Later in the same episode, when her and Lorelai are stopped there again on the way home, that stop sign is also facing the wrong direction! The side that says "STOP" is facing oncomming traffic.
