I remember this one when I saw this film in the cinema when it was first released. Near the end of the film the main characters are assembled to ride west at mid-day in a race to stake their land claims. There is a part when Nicole Kidman and company are riding their horses from right to left across the screen, casting shadows TOWARDS the camera. This means that they were actually riding EAST and not WEST, since the sun would be due south of them at mid-day in the U.S. The director should have realized this and planned to have them ride from left to right across the screen. I guess they didn't stake any land claims after all...
