Today, we all know the Statue of Liberty to be green. However, she wasn't always that way. The statue is made of copper and, through years of oxidation, it patinaed into its current color. When it was first built (and a number of years after it was built), the statue was the color of a shiny, new penny. Why, then, when we see the wide shot of Chon and Roy's barge floating down the New York Harbor after their hotel escape, is the currently-under-construction Statue of Liberty green?
