When Dave kicks the chipmunks out, we see them on the 'stump' out side the window last before Dave shuts the blinds. Dave is shown cleaning up the mess in his house and has not touched the blinds. Yet as the chipmunks 'sing' still in the same spot, Dave looks out and the blinds are already open.
We see them on the window ledge when Dave shuts the blinds. We only see him shut those blinds, not the rest in the house. So they could have gone to another window. We don't see the stump until he opens the window.
