In the part where Dexter is trying to get Ed to sign the contract Dexter hands Ed a pen to sign it with. If you watch just before Dexter hands Ed the pen, he already has a pen in his hand and then it disappears when he gets it from Dexter.
I kept looking at that part over and over and you know what? It is actually the spoon handle from the pot of special sauce! But it does look like a pen at first!
