In the movie, West Virginia University is referred to as the University of West Virginia. Homer Hickum tried to correct the director, but to no avail. He was more than a little annoyed. ( I graduated from WVU last May and he spoke at our graduation )
not only did they mess that up, but one of the college reps says something to the effect of "I am from Virginia Tech." At the time, it was known strictly as Virginia Polytechnic Institute or VPI. Virginia Tech was not adopted until much later.
