After the first battle with the Persians, the Spartans receive a hail of arrows. At the end of this barage, Leonidas stands up and shatters about a dozen arrows stuck in his shield with a downward stoke of his spear. This action leaves the arrow points with about 6 inches of the arrow shaft still stuck in the shield. Immediately after this we see a shot of Leonidas leading his men out of this area to face a group of charging horsemen. The broken arrows are magicly gone!
