Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Rita's Slip About Harry's Home
The part of the movie where Harry is interviewed the first time and Rita pulls him into the closet. When he mentions this, she says he should be right at home. This is reference to Harry living under the stairs at his uncle's. Rita would have had no way to know this.
I think this is actually a reference to it being a broom cupboard and Harry loves to fly. I believe Harry says, "But this is a broom cupboard" or something like that.
She fancies herself an investigative reporter. She's the type of "reporter" that undoubtedly digs into her subject's background to "dig up gossip". In the 1st movie, letters sent from Hogwarts to Harry are addressed to his "under the stairs" residence. So, isn't it plausible that she looked into his records and knew he lived under the stairs in muggle world?
