In this remake, the slip up occurs when the ship overturns and thus cutting out the satellite feed. No one in the Coast Guard or Navy can communicate with the ship because it's upside down and so is the satellite antenna. However, in one scene, the group of survivors comes across the computer room and one of them is able to send an SOS email out to 500 people on her Christmas list. How is this possible when the satellite link is dead?
On a side note...not a slip up but interesting nonetheless. This movie is 3 hours long and not for 1 minute of those 3 hours does background music stop. There is a constant playing soundtrack throughout the entire movie.
