NCIS - Exploding Computer
On the April 24th episode, about 15 minutes into the show, Abby's computer blew-up supposedly from some virus or worm she had downloaded. They said all the data was destroyed in the explosion. It was not the CPU that exploded, it was the monitor. To distroy the data it would have to be the CPU that exploded.

Actually, destroying the CPU (which is the main processor chip) will not destroy any data. The hard drive is where data is stored. And, if a virus/worm were to somehow cause an electrical surge large enough to fry the CPU and/or hard drive, there's a very good chance the monitor would catch part of the surge and fry as well.
